Union Museum of History and Art in Farmerville will open its “Civil War in North Louisiana” exhibit on Wednesday, July 26. The display of maps, photos, historic newspapers, and artifacts focuses on the Civil War as it occurred in the state north of Alexandria and between the Sabine and Mississippi rivers. Curator of the exhibit is Dr. Gary Joiner, Civil War expert and head of history and social sciences at LSU-Shreveport. Museum hours are Tuesday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (closed for lunch), and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lectures are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Aug. 12, 19, and 26, and Sept. 16.
