The Seratones, of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Louisiana Soul Revival featuring Doug Duffey, of Monroe, Louisiana, will headline the inaugural Railroad Makers and Music Festival on April 8 in Ruston’s historic downtown district. The festival will also feature the bands Big Head, of Monroe; Montague, of New Orleans; Supernaturals; of Monroe; GoofyBoots, of Greenville, Mississippi; and more than 100 regional makers as well as several food trucks.The festival is comprised of two main components. The Makers Fair will be held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Historic Fire Station parking lot at 200 E. Mississippi Ave. with the music portion running from 3-10 p.m. at Railroad Park located on Park Avenue. The makers’ and artists’ work range from handmade jewelry, woodwork, apparel and paintings, while the music will vary from alternative, indie and rock ‘n’ roll. The Ruston High School Bearcat Motorsport Team will display their award-winning Eco Car, the Ruston Parks and Recreation Department will host a KidsZone consisting of games and sports in the courtyard of the Historic Fire Station and the North Central Louisiana Arts Council will host the “Schoolyard Art Brawl,” a paint battle between local high schools teachers, from noon-1 p.m.Festival attendees will also get the chance to see the live painting of a new mural in downtown Ruston featuring local artists Nicholas Bustamante and Whitney Causey.All of these events will be held during the Makers Fair portion.
