The New Music on the Bayou Summer Festival will be held May 31st-June 3rd in Ruston and Monroe. The festival presents exciting new music by contemporary composers from around the world. Composers are able to work alongside local professional musicians in preparation for seven concerts over four days, and the public is invited to not only attend these free performances, but also to observe the rehearsal process and enjoy a series of presentations on a range of topics like the relationship between music and nature. Concerts will be held in the following locations: May 31st at 7 p.m. in Stone Theatre at Louisiana Tech, June 1st at 10 a.m. at the Lincoln Parish Library Events Center, June 1st at 7 p.m. at the Monroe Downtown Art Crawl, June 2nd at 7 p.m. in the Biedenharn Recital Hall at ULM, June 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Black Bayou Wildlife Refuge, June 3rd at 7 p.m. at the Strauss Theatre Center. The Strauss event will be followed by a reception catered by Restaurant Sage and Marsala Beverage; TICKETS are required and can be purchased on our website. (An invitation-only wine and cheese reception will be held before the Monroe Downtown Arts Crawl event; the concert to follow is FREE.) All other events are free and open to the public.
